BFN Disaster Drill
Sunday May 3, 2026; 1:30 - 3:30PM

What do you do after the shaking stops?
This drill, planned for the Boynton Florida Neighborhood, simulates actions ensuring life safety that should be undertaken soon after a disaster event. Activities and documentation that will be used are based upon FEMA CERT Incident Command System practices.

Participants will practice skills including:
-
Initial life safety assessment actions
-
Basic documentation requirements
-
Basic coordination communication, including use of radios
Refreshments will be available at the conclusion of the drill. All neighbors are welcome to the post-drill social hour, regardless of whether they have participated in the drill.

BFN Insurance Symposium
To help bring clarity to the current state of home insurance, our neighbor, Ambrish Chitnis, is hosting a small, informal neighborhood information session on residential insurance. The goal is simply to explain what’s happening in the insurance market, how it affects homes in our area, and what homeowners can do ahead of time to avoid surprises.

What this is:
-
An educational conversation focused on North Berkeley Hills homes
-
No selling, quoting, or policy recommendations
What this isn’t:
-
A marketing event
-
Individual policy reviews during the session

There will be 2–3 insurance professionals with different perspectives (independent broker, large carrier, and alternative underwriting model) to explain how insurers currently evaluate risk and eligibility.

Details:

Location: 418 Boynton Ave

When: to maximize participation, Ambrish has created a poll. Please click on this link and check all the slots that you can make work.
To keep the discussion useful and focused, we invite you to submit up to three questions ahead of time. These can be general concerns (e.g., non-renewals, upgrades, timelines), not personal policy details. Please send questions to Ambrish Chitnis at ambrish.chitnis@gmail.com.
