About BFN Group

The Boynton-Florida Neighborhood (BFN) group was founded in 2005 and aims to strengthen community ties and improve our emergency preparedness.

There are 70+ addresses in BFN, divided into three sections as shown below:

Lower Boynton, bounded by Arlington Ave, Boynton Walk and Maryland Walk, plus 355 and 357 Arlington.
Mid Boynton, bounded by Boynton Walk, Maryland Walk and Colorado Ave
Upper Boynton, bounded by Colorado, and includes all of Florida Ave

Operationally, the BFN group is organized around several committees and individuals who are responsible for:

Food and Water: Organize and encourage the maintenance of household emergency water storage. Encourage household emergency food storage.

Cache Maintenance: Maintain inventory of the neighborhood cache supplies, keep generator and batteries up-to-date, and recommend new acquisitions for the neighborhood caches to ensure optimal preparation for emergencies.

First Aid: Inform the neighborhood of first-aid training and events and encourage neighbor participation.

Firewise: Coordinate BFN’s participation in Firewise, implementing the 3-year action plan and promoting neighborhood education about Firewise.

Finances: Coordinate and manage donation and reimbursement processes.

Outreach: Invite new neighbors to participate in BFN activities and events.

Preparedness: Plan and coordinate drills and training sessions, encouraging participation in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes.

Section Captains: Cultivate personal connections with neighbors in each section and act as the local resource for preparedness information.

Events Coordinator: Coordinate social gatherings and events.
